Polish Pavilion hosted by Polish Association of Brampton

For over 20 years we have been organizing the Polish Pavilion at Carabram, Multicultural Festival in Brampton. Our organization was created to keep our language, customs and traditions amongst our youngsters and to show our heritage to other people in Canada.

Visit the Polish Pavilion and we can guarantee you will enjoy our music, exhibits, crafts, customs and traditions of our country famous for its hospitality, good food and drinks.

Languages: Polish is the official language of Poland. It is spoken by most of the 38 Million inhabitants of Poland (Census 2002). There are also some native speakers of Polish in western Belarus and Ukraine, as well as in Eastern Lithuania. Polish has the second largest number of speakers among Slavic languages after Russian.


History
Great (north) Poland was founded in 966 by Mieszko I, who belonged to the Piast dynasty. The tribes of southern Poland then formed Little Poland. In 1047 both Great Poland and Little Poland united under the rule of Casimir I the Restorer. Poland merged with Lithuania by royal marriage in 1386. The Polish-Lithuanian state reached the peak of its power between the 14th and 16th centuries, scoring military successes against the (Germanic) Knights of the Teutonic Order, the Russians and the Ottoman Turks.
