Preparations are now underway for the next Carabram Festival on July 8, 9 & 10. We, at the Philippine Pavilion hope that you will include the Philippines in your list of places to visit during Carabram.
Our theme for this year's Carabram is "Tela" (Fabric). The Philippines is so rich and diverse in culture that it is representative in the many types of fabric we weave. Experience the Philippine livelihood interwoven not only in the fabrics we wear, but the customs, food, song and dances that express the various patterns of Philippine life.
There are 110 indigenous groups comprising 10% of the country's total population. In the North are minority tribal groups that still practice their customs, traditions and lore. In the South, the indigenous groups are known for their wealth of craft, elaborate dresses and vivacious dances and music. In the 16th century, we were ruled by the Spanish with their pompous and pageantry. We will showcase the diversity that is the Philippines.
There will be live culinary demonstrations on Saturday and Sunday. Enjoy our popular dishes like “lumpia” (spring roll), “pansit” (rice noodles), “caldereta” (Philippine stew) and crispy “lechon” (roasted suckling pig). Don’t forget to have our very own San Miguel Beer, which is ranked as one of the best tasting beers in the world!
