President's Message

A warm welcome to Carabram 2011!

On behalf of the Carabram Executive and the hundreds of volunteers who work so very hard to make sure that all of our visitors enjoy an unforgettable experience, I welcome you to the 29th edition of Brampton’s very exciting multicultural festival!

Community means different things to different people. But for three very special days in July the term takes on a special significance as it stands to signify the joining together of diverse cultures and traditions within our community, all with one common goal – the enrichment of lives, the sharing of friendships, and the fostering of understanding among all residents of Brampton.

Brampton’s strength is in its people – residents who care about their community and look to the future to ensure that the city continues to foster a sense of well-being, cohesiveness, and purpose. Carabram epitomizes those goals in an enjoyable and educational atmosphere that brings together the people of the world. During Carabram each cultural group proudly showcases its heritage through first class entertainment, fine cuisine and unique cultural displays.   Huge thanks to all the pavilion volunteers who work tirelessly year round to ensure you have a great experience during your visit.

We are really excited to welcome two new pavilions for 2011, Africa and Latin America. I am sure you will enjoy these as well as the returning pavilions that all have so much to offer. All pavilions are easily accessible by car and Brampton transit including the free Carabram shuttle bus that is available to anyone holding a valid 2011 Carabram passport. You’ll find a pavilion location map in the centre of the passport and on the website.

Sincere thanks to Mayor Susan Fennell, the City of Brampton, all our sponsors and partners for your continued support. We could not do it without you.

Have a wonderful, safe weekend as you “travel the world”. We hope that you come away with a new appreciation of not only your neighbours’ culture, but the exciting diversity of this great city! Thank you for visiting Carabram and enjoy the hospitality at each destination!
